Treatment: Afrin

Afrin nasal spray is an over-the-counter medication used to alleviate nasal congestion and pressure in the sinuses. Afrin, also known by the generic name oxymetazoline, comes in liquid form in a pump bottle that you insert and squeeze into the nose to release a spray of medication. Afrin is a decongestant medication, and it helps to constrict blood vessels in the nasal passages to help improve breathing through the nose. Afrin is often used to manage the symptoms caused by hay fever, allergies, and the common cold. Afrin should not be taken more than twice within 24 hours, or nasal congestion can worsen.
