A gastrojejunal ulcer is a sore that forms in the area between the stomach and the part of the small intestine known as the jejunum. The jejunum is located between the duodenum and the ileum in the small intestine, and it helps to digest food that passes from the stomach. A gastrojejunal ulcer usually occurs as a result of surgical treatment for a peptic ulcer. A gastrojejunal ulcer forms when the lining inside the small intestine and the stomach begin to break down and the area where the two connect becomes inflamed and irritated by stomach acids. A gastrojejunal ulcer often causes abdominal pain.
